Making chicken broth or bone broth at home, can be an impossible task for some people. The preparations and time it consumed watching that pot of stock simmering over stove for hours, are reasons why more people are turning their heads to store-bought broth.
Not everyone has the time to go thru the process of broth making. Before the 4-8 hours of simmering, it usually took me at least an hour to defrost pork bones and chicken claws. Meanwhile, chopping and cutting all other ingredients like leek, garlic, carrots, and other vegetables to add along into simmering with those bones. Then, I have to start blanching bones, skimming out those scums and layer of oil on surface as it boils.
Since I’m a homemaker, surely I enjoy doing this for my family on certain days where I find the time. However, pre-packed broth became an option if I just wanted a quick fix of noodles soup or broth for recipe.
Since year 2015 Swanson’s brand broth by Campbell has come out to light with promotions and deals to attract customers. I’ve tried the chicken and pork bone broth, and I personally think it does taste better compared to other brand’s broth I’ve tried in the past. Swanson chicken broth gives a strong-flavoured chicken taste and it doesn’t have that bitter aftertaste which those usual store-brought stock imparts.
Not long after, Swanson introduce their pork bone broth. Upon trying, I stocked up a few cos it taste exactly like homemade broth. Delicious!
Of course, no one food is good for health if it’s taken too much too often. As long as you are doing this in moderation, there’s no reason why you can’t take hours off away from your kitchen!
